The Potomac Valley Track Club has agreed to have the last heat of the mile be the 1500 meter so that Matt can qualify to race the 1500 meter at Nationals next month. To qualify, he needs to run a 5:04 or faster. No sweat! We would love for you to come out and cheer Matt on, or, if you're up for it, to run the 1500 with (or near) him! It is an open meet, so for $8 you can race any of the events. The kids and I will be out there cheering and we'd love the company. Depending on how fast the meet goes and how he is feeling, Matt may also race the 800 meter.
Here are the details:
Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 8:40 am
Edison High School, 5801 Franconia Rd, Alexandria, Virginia
Order of track events:
Mile (and 1500)
100/110 meter Hurdles
We were very disappointed when Maryland denied Matt entry to their track meet so we are over the moon that Potomac Valley has been so accommodating and added an event that wasn't even on their schedule. This will be Matt's last track race before he heads off to Minnesota. It would be really nice to have a great send off for him!
If the track event isn't for you, please think about running in the StarKid 5k at Fairfax Corner on Sunday, June 7th. Matt will be racing with Karl guiding him. He placed third last year and will use this as a gauge of his current 5k time. It is a well-organized race for a great cause--the Inova Children's Heart Program. http://inova.org.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1130910
We hope to see you at one of these two upcoming races. Go Daddy's Blind Ambition, go!
